Let's start measuring!

During the first unit, in class we were working on a kind of introduction to the measure. In this topic we have been able to observe the mistakes that students usually make due to the lack of understanding of the contents. That is, when we explain to students in class that the measure is to see the length of an object, children often do not take into account the shape of the objects, that is, if they have curvatures or are simply not straight.
There are two ways to measure an object, the first to give information about the length or width of that object. And the second one to compare.
As I mentioned earlier, there are two purposes for which students must learn to measure. The first reason is to give information about the width and length of an object, you can do various activities in which we can help children understand these concepts.
One of the activities is to measure the length of different objects with a ruler and write it down on a piece of paper, at the end of the class the students will have to order them from lowest to highest taking into account the length and width of the objects.

The second activity would consist of improving the understanding of the second knowledge. This activity will consist in making a comparison and grouping of objects according to their measure that they have. Once the students have completed the grouping, they should check with the rule if they have correctly grouped.
These simple activities can be done in the first cycle of Primary Education, to introduce students to this concept
