Figures activity

In today's post I would like to show you an activity that we could carry out with the third cycle of primary education. Working with the students the geometrical bodies and the projection of these in the plane is complicated for them, because in many occasions they are not able to imagine their decomposition and the formation of these, in other occasions the face number of the polygons and figures are very numerous.

Students learn more quickly through manipulative materials, and if in addition, such material has been manufactured by them the learning process will be acquired more easily.

The media are one of the substantive components of teaching

  With this statement what we want to indicate is that in every teaching process inevitably the media are configured as one of the essential elements of this process. It is unthinkable, nowadays, for a teacher to develop his teaching using exclusively the oral word and its gestures. Even in the classes that we could consider as more traditional, the blackboard and books are an integral and necessary part of them.

The activity that I propose is individual, each student must have a large card and colorful sheets to make the geometric figures. In addition to the scissors and the glue. What is the actvity? Students must make the geometric figures given by the teacher and also attach the development of it below. Students should write the number of faces, vertices and edges that are in that figure, facilitating the understanding of these. Here you can see a picture of that activity, however you can change it accordigto the level of the students.
